Alexandra’s Sunday Scrapbook – How to make a vellum shaker
January 6, 2013
…to bid the year 2012 goodbye! Here’s Alexandra’s layout for this week, in her words:
“I love Penny Black Inc’s vellum papers. For this week-end page, why not use some left-over confetti with a piece of vellum to create an interesting yet real easy way to illustrate the pictures you took over the Holidays…
This concept and the design i used for today’s page would work well for a card as well! Join me on my blog to learn more about it…”

Dear Val,
Thank You so much

Very cute and love your idea!
Dear Deborah,
You are so sweet.
Thank You very much!!
This is a lot simpler & much less bulky than the conventional Shaker involving foam tape & acetate & as it’s flatter it would certainly work well for a card that needs posting. I particularly like the way your black confetti stars echo the shape of the floral pattern on the vellum but most of all the way the gold confetti elements echo the gold in your photographs – specifically those gold stars in the background.
This would definitely work with the.

Ooops – pressed return too soon – This would definitely work with the design for a card as the vellum & confetti would add real movement, imagine a see saw image with the vellum below echoing the side-to-side movement.

Dear Paula,
Thank You so much for sharing your thoughts and ideas on how to take this idea of a vellum shaker to a whole new level!!
Where’s Jennifer (PB&J) tutorials?
This post is a real stretch for Penny Black. Surely there’s more than vellum to showcase.
Dear Diane,
On Sundays, we try to do something different at Penny Black’s. Something that shows how versatile Penny Black’s products can be. You are absolutely right, there’s a lot more to showcase than vellum but Penny Black has so many awesome products besides the wonderful stamps, it’s nice to have a little bit of everything and hopefully trigger some new ideas don’t you think?
Thank You for taking the time to comment today.
Alexandra, I sure enjoyed your project today! Thanks for sharing your talents with us each week!!! HUGS!
