From Drab to Fab; DAY 5

September 16, 2011

It’s Elizabeth Allan’s turn to show us how to bring a card from cute and simple to fabulous! Elizabeth used the following stamps for this card; Twinkling 40-083, Warm Wishes 40-074, Betsy & Mimi Wrap 4192K, Let It Snow 30-086, and Christmas Friends 30-084.

To take her card to the next level, using the same sized card, Elizabeth angled the edges to form a present and added a window frame. She also added a bow, ribbon, glitter and distress inks.  You can click on her card to be taken to her blog for more details;

That wraps our Drab to Fab feature this week. We’re back all next week with a special critter showcase by our Design Team. Have a wonderful, stampy weekend…

    Such a “twist” of transformation from a card to a “present” shape card, Elizabeth! Love the two little birdies on the window with the elevated effect!

    Fabulous stuff from Elizabeth! I LOVE these little birds and this colorful holiday card!

  15. September 16, 2011 10:28 am

    Both of these are beautiful and either can stand on it’s own. I don’t actually see the second card as an evolution of the first, they’re both great. The first one works because of Elizabeth’s great colouring, it really pops as a clean and simple card.

    Love this card. May used this for inspiration for this year’s christmas card.

    Amazing work Elizabeth! Love the “present” shape of the second card. Your coloring is fantastic, it really brings the cute little birds to life.

    The extra dimension on the fab card makes a surprising difference & I must admit the idea of a present with the ribbon tied round was not one I’d thought of – very effective it is too.

    I like the original card, but the transformed card is so amazing. The present shape, bow and ribbon, and the window for the two cute birds are so creative! I love your coloring, Elizabeth!
