Guest Designer; Heather Telford
We have a special treat today as Heather Telford joins us for a spotlight! Heather creates amazing greeting cards and I know you’ll love what she’s done with Penny Black stamps…
Although I have lived in Canada for eleven years I was born and raised in Australia. My husband, our two daughters and I moved to Canada seven weeks before my son was born. I have always loved arts and crafts; I currently sew, stamp, draw, paint, knit and print but have also dabbled in quilting, embroidery, beading, spinning and weaving. My main creative pursuit at present is definitely card making as there are so many possibilities for completing a mini “artwork” in one sitting! My days are spent teaching and supporting my children in their sporting, musical and school activities.
My stamping style has evolved quite considerably over the years, most recently becoming cleaner and simpler. One thing that has not changed is my preference for nature images. I love creating scenes and landscapes and have found Penny Black stamps to be wonderful for doing so. Many Penny Black nature stamps are silhouettes which are perfect stamped in black with a colorful sponged sky behind. They can also be inked with markers if I want a realistic colour scheme. There is so much detail in many Penny Black stamps that even a small section of a stamp can be featured as the main focus of a card. The Penny Black background stamps are also wonderful to use as they are so big and versatile.
You can click on one of Heather’s cards to head over to her blog and see more Penny Black. Thank you, Heather, beautiful work! Have a great weekend — we’re back on Monday with a full week of LONDON!

Her cards are works of art. Love her take on the one with the small squares, would have never thought to do it that way. Just bought that stamp a few days ago, and have yet to get it inky yet. I can see many uses of it in the near future. Thanks for featuring Heather.

Heather, these are works of art. I love the shading of the backgrounds and the scenery you set the stamps in! I have tried to find the stamps for your last two cards – the red flowers with green stems and the last one with the flowers with the beautiful sky shading. Could you please help me with the names of the stamps?

amazing! bautiful! unbeliveble! great!
These scenes are amazingly beautiful & so restful. The first is my favourite the way the snowdrifts undulate beneath the low sun & the way the white space above & below serve to elongate the card design.
