Love the way you use those Distress Inks for the colouring & your explanation of how to avoid mud – mud is what I make when I’m using the Distress Stains but I WILL get there.

I really LOVE the background stamp. Wish I would have had it 18 months ago when I was working on my daughers wedding and hydrangeas were her flower. 😉 Beautiful card! I have never worked with gesso, but will be making a trip to the local craft store to pick some up and try it. The effect is just beautiful!

So happy to have a new video today, with a marvelous technique. Love this look, and I wonder what you use to clean the stamp. And do you clean it immediately after stamping before you start the coloring process? This is a beautiful card. TFS
Thanks SOOO much for your comment, Mary! I cleaned the stamp immediately after stamping while I was waiting for the Gesso to dry on my project. I removed the bulk of the gesso from my stamp with a baby wipe and then quickly ran the stamp under water and scrubbed with a tooth brush. I immediately dried the stamp and it is good to go for the next round. Thanks again!

Wow, I never realized what a beautiful resist gesso could create! This was such a great video and I can’t wait to try it out with the new Penny Black stamps I am going to win (power of positive thinking!). This is the first time I have left any comments. I recently had a stroke and am trying to bring myself back by pushing myself to learn new techniques. I have never used gesso and plan on getting some so I can try making one of these cards. Also for a chance to win some new stamps. lol

Being the slight type A or OCD that I am, my first thought was “oh, what about the stamp cleaning”? I see that you answered that to Mary above. I LOVE THIS TECHNIQUE! I have gesso I bought for some other art, I can’t wait to try this. I love the orange/red card a lot. Your cards are always so lush and colorful, just my type of tropical look with flowers/birds/bright colors. You make it look so easy every time 🙂

Wonderful. Wouldn’t have thought to use gesso all over the stamp like that – I assume you have to clean it immediately so as to not damage the stamp? The end effect is so soft and dreamy.
