Happy New Year!! It’s Lin here today, in our Stamp Squad week of taking over the blog.

Lin-2008

Since this is a traditional day for making New Year’s resolutions, I thought I’d use a couple of the stamps from the Life’s Messages Slapstick/Cling set for my cards for you today. I’m not one to make major resolutions each year, but these are all good words of wisdom that perhaps we can think on today.

I decided to make this one into a chalkboard look, stamping it in white ink on black cardstock, then using a white pen to faux-stitch around it before trimming it out and framing it up with some red cardstock. I added some design papers in aqua and red and put everything onto a kraft card base. I couldn’t resist adding that little punched red heart along with some gingham ribbon, a wood button, and the scalloped trim. I made another card using another of the messages in the set, but you’ll have to come visit me at my blog, Sending Hugs, to see it. Here’s a little sneak peek of it:

I’ve always been rather intimidated by the ‘chalkboard’ effect – your description made me realise it’s not that complicated. Wishing you a Happy New Year.
