How-To with Heather

As part our newest collection, Happy Everything, we are thrilled to bring you new products such as our Stencil Designs and Large-Scale stamps. And we couldn’t think of a better way to inspire than share the work of some super special guests and our Penny Black designers using these new products. On Monday we brought to you a VIDEO blog hop and for the remainder of the week our designers will be sharing their “How-To’s” here on the blog.

This technique by Heather will have you itching to get out your kraft paper and favorite ink pads.

1. Sponge Memento Luxe Wedding Dress ink through Verdant stencil onto kraft cardstock. Tape over any sections of the stencil you don’t want in the final design.

2. Shift stencil slightly and sponge Radiant Neon Electric Pink ink through flower sections of the stencil. Keeping stencil slightly offset sponge a few leaves with Radiant Neon Electric Green ink.

3. Reposition stencil and sponge with white again taping off any sections you don’t want inked.

4. Shift stencil slightly and add pink and green ink.

5. Reposition stencil and repeat process with white, pink and green inks.

6. Stamp coordinating Slapstick/Cling stamp Delightful on a post-it note and cut a mask to cover the area where you don’t want the image to appear on the final design. Stamp Delightful stamp in black over stenciling.

7. Repeat masking and stamping in black over other stenciled images.

9. Stamp frame from Special Wishes T for Transparent set onto a post-it and cut around frame to create a mask.

10. Sponge white ink through frame mask then stamp frame and sentiment in black onto sponged area. Complete card with a black mat and b&w gingham ribbon.

    Everything Heather creates is totally gorgeous. This is so beautiful I love the offset inking and stamping. Just shows what amazing techniques you can use with the coordinating stencils and stamps.

    Awesome, I love anything done on kraft card stock. Most people don’t use it for cards but I love it. The white pops wonderfully

    Jill, Soooooo Pretty! I absolutely can’t wait for my local store to get these in. I placed my order with my store so now it’s a matter of waiting. . . couldn’t get them all at once but I will have something to play with soon I hope! Winning would be the bomb!     Hadn’t thought about how much easier it would be to stamp several colors on the same object if you used stencils. Another good reason for stencils as opposed to always stamping.

    What a different way of using the stencil & stamp! The offsetting of the images is very effective & I love the way the white shadows so beautifully on the kraft card stock. The sentiment panel really has a chalkboard feel to it.
