Hi, it’s me with my scissors again. I must explain that I came to the Penny Black blog today with great intentions of playing with the stamps and dies from the new release Pocket Treasures. Instead, I became distracted when I came across a photo album. It’s what happens to me at home every time I clean closets! Who can resist browsing through photo albums?
Hmmm… someone’s taken a plane trip to some far off destination. Great shot of the plane! Polaroid photos were so fun… instant gratification before the day of digital cameras.
Love the image and the sentiment: so right for graduations, promotions and the start of any new adventure.
Looks like someone’s been on a sailing adventure! Great shot of the sky blue water and sky.
This little card would look great attached to a bon voyage bottle of champagne. The cut out from the Polaroid frame is just the right size for stamping the boat.
Ahhh, now here’s a photo that helps me remember our days as full time RV’ers. We had a fifth wheel trailer pulled by a diesel pick up truck and we lived and traveled in it for almost five years. Looking back, it was probably the next logical step after many years of enjoying camping. However, little did I know that while we were searching for a retirement home in Florida, Mr. RWS was really envying his brother’s RV lifestyle. My retirement home ended up being on wheels without a lanai!
We have traveled a lot. Traveling by planes, ships, automobiles and the RV we have visited thirteen countries and 45 of the United States. I suppose our bucket list should include those states we missed: or maybe someone could just send me a postcard.
Enough procrastination! On with the cards for today.
Besides the fun images in the Bon Voyage set, the Pocket Treasures release includes the transparent set Let’s Chat that has images just great for using in your pocket album projects. The images are also perfect for making your own embellishments, decorating scrapbook pages or for making hip and trendy cards. For this card, I created my own background using the circle and heart images. I then stamped, embossed and cut out different elements, added some Creative Dies and then pop dotted them onto the background. It was an “anything goes” technique! I really left my comfort zone.
I have saved my favorite for last! I just wish you could see the dazzle I applied with my Wink of Stella pen to this awesome blossom made with the transparent Dazzler set! When I first saw this stamp, I knew it had to be made into layers. Here’s the how to:
First stamp and emboss three images of the large Dazzler stamp. Cut out the first layer along its outer edge. Then cut the second layer as illustrated in the photo, freeing up all the “petals”. The final layer I created by using Penny Black’s die Pinwheel to cut out the center of the third image. I love how the Creative Die imitates the petals on the layer beneath it.
I put the cutouts together using foam tape at the centers and then mounted the resulting “flower” onto a white circle. I had prepared a card base using a Dotted Fusion panel mounted onto cardstock. This would make a great package topper. I can’t wait to try it in other colors, too.
I’ve had a few inquiries regarding Cooper and how he is spending his summer. Well, Cooper is not one to enjoy swimming pools or any activity involving water. He prefers to keep his curls dry. What he does love is being included at the patio table under the shade of the gazebo for an afternoon glass of lemonade. Coming right up, Cooper!
Whew! Browsing that photo album put me way behind! Glad I finished my card projects using the Pocket Treasures release stamps and dies. There is so much more to this release and I can’t wait to play!
It is time to put the scissors away, clean up my mess and join Cooper on the patio. I think he’s got the right idea: enjoy summer before it’s over. I wish the same for you.
