Collaboration with Inchie Arts: Day 3

November 19, 2014

This week we are thrilled to be collaborating with Inchie Arts featuring their awesome Art Squares! What are Art Squares, you ask? They are the perfect surface for stamping and coloring. Art Squares are made from the highest quality, artist grade, precision cut matboard. The material is unique because it behaves like watercolor paper, enabling papercrafters to use a variety of both wet and dry coloring mediums (including paints, inks, stains, markers, colored pencils, etc.) without surface deterioration. Check out all of the sizes and colors of Art Squares on the Inchie Arts website.

Today Elizabeth is sharing a dimensional home décor project.

elizabeth

Her box was constructed from 1 ½” Art Squares and illustrates how a wintry stamp can be transformed into one-of-a-kind marbled paper.

And, if you take a peek inside, you will see an array of “Tiny Treasures” waiting to make their appearance as tags or card elements.

elizabeth2

By gluing Art Squares together, a sturdy foundation was created along with a custom fitted lid.

elizabeth3

Elizabeth’s handmade paper was designed by stamping tissue paper with the

snowflake from 40-355 Crystal Frame and 1999L Letter Background.

As we zoom in, you can see with the addition of watercolors and antique bronzing

how the paper is transformed into a seamless, marbled design.

elizabeth5

The sturdiness of the Art Squares not only lends precision detailing to the all the edges, but they also give the box a decadent thickness.

Here’s a closer look at the tags inside:

elizabeth6

The cute images from our transparent set, 30-268 Tiny Treasures, were stamped on small Art Squares and watercolored.   To give the tags the appearance of kiln-fired tiles, Elizabeth applied two coats of gloss varnish.
