Christmas Muse

July 27, 2016

Our designer, Micheline “Mimi” Jourdain, has been creating masterpieces with stamps from our newest collection, Artistic Endeavors. Join us this week as we take a peek at a few of her beautiful cards.

The ability to alter and make our Slapstick/Cling stamp, 40-472 Muse, one’s own is part of the appeal of this versatile image.

By changing her dress to a winter coat and adding a snowy backdrop, Mimi brings us Christmas in July.

Mimi began by stamping 40-472 Muse using VersaFine Onyx Black ink onto Fabriano hot press 140 lb watercolor paper. She altered the image by hand drawing the coat and holly and berries. She splattered the background with masking fluid/frisket and allowed it to dry. She then painted her image and background using the following colors of Distress Ink: Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Peeled Paint, Chipped Sapphire, Vintage Photo, and Black Soot. The trees from the transparent set, 30-258 Prancers, were stamped with Peeled Paint Distress Ink. For an extra special finishing touch touch, Mimi glued beads for the buttons on the coat. Once complete, Mimi removed the masking fluid/frisket by rubbing the surface… such a great way to get the look of snow on a stamped scene.
