Our designers have been getting inky with our newest collection of stamps, dies, and stencils—BLISS 2017, now available in our online store! This week they share their tips, techniques, and gorgeous cards featuring our new brushstroke stamps.

Elizabeth joins us today with a series of simply elegant card ideas with our new brushstroke stamps: 40-537 Peony, 40-539 Effulgent, 40-538 A Moment in Time, 40-536 First Waltz.

Using these bold floral designs and elegant sentiments, Elizabeth demonstrates that anyone can escape for a quick moment and be able to start and finish a card in a short period of time. Sneaking away for some artsy time is definitely a good thing… the added bonus is a finished card to share with a friend.

Give it a try…

Elizabeth’s technique for all of these cards was to ink her stamps using Memento markers. Using a stamp positioning tool, she layered the colors starting light and working darker. She activated the ink by “huffing” on the stamp for each application. (Full supplies and instructions linked below.)

Her gorgeous sentiments were stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink. She’s used the following sentiment sets: 30-413 Birthday Love, 30-416 Happy Thoughts, 30-419 Happy Wishes, 30-409 Faith.

Notice how her sentiment stamping slightly overlaps on top of each flower? This small detail gives her simple designs a finished look.

For the poppy above, the flower head was filled in using very light brushstrokes of her pen (Marvy marker) to paper.

For added embellishments, Elizabeth added Pan Pastels to the flowers. She applied them using a very small cotton ball with light pressure. She also added Stickles for a touch of sparkle and shine.

And the fun doesn’t stop there, here’s some golden gorgeousness.

On this card, Elizabeth edged all four sides with Marvy’s Gold Deco Color Pen. Another one of those fabulous finishing touches…

What a fabulous job done on ALL the flowers. I wake up to Penny Black every morning and am never disappointed. The only problem is I buy the stamps and I get so frustrated because mine don’t look as good. I am card making for about a year and have never sent a card out because I don’t think it worthy enough. Problem with being a perfectionist. Wish you could sit with me for about an hour and show me what I am going wrong. Thanks for brightening my day.
