Welcome, Penny Ward!
Our newest collection, BLISS 2017, includes a collection of stamps perfectly suited for Bible journaling: 30-409 Faith, 30-403 Delicate Garden, 30-406 All Great Things, 30-405 This Way, 30-404 Spiritual Snippets. This week we welcome a spectacular guest designer, Penny Ward, as she features these new stamps on her fabulous pages and cards!
Hello from Penny Ward. I am a daughter, sister, wife, mom, nana, Breast Cancer survivor and a card designer from Lake Placid, Fl. So thrilled to be sharing my Bible journaling with you using the newest Bliss release from Penny Black.
If you are a cardmaker and have been toying with the idea of trying Bible journaling with stamps, we encourage you to take the leap! Penny’s tips will help you bring your love of stamping to a new artistic expression.
- Because of the fine paper in a Bible, you really need to use a light touch. Think pounce when wanting to ink blend. Use a clipboard behind pages when stamping for a hard resistance. If using a Misti tool or similar, use a strong magnet and lift the lid slowly so as not to move the paper. Protect other pages by using computer paper behind the page you are creating.
- Pens, markers, gels, sprays and watercolors can be used, but do expect bleeding behind the page. (Although if you first paint the page with clear gesso then that diminishes the bleeding and allows you to watercolor on your page, too.) Pan Pastels, colored pencils, dry Gelatos and Copic Air System don’t bleed.
- And finally…if you are OCD about your Bible as I am…a warm iron will flatten a page nicely. (I can’t believe I just admitted that I can’t stand a wrinkled or warped page). 🙂
This first page by Penny couldn’t possibly be more creative. She’s used our transparent stamp sets, 30-405 This Way and 30-404 Spiritual Snippets, as the focal point on her page. Don’t you love how she’s positioned the words to spell ‘prayers’?
Penny’s soft floral background stamping was achieved using our transparent set, 30-417 Delicate Silhouettes.
And finally, Penny’s page is accented with an artistic bookmark created by combining our Creative Die, 51-319 BookMark Tab, with another sentiment from the transparent set, 30-404 Spiritual Snippets.
Not only does Penny have a bible journaling page for us each day this week, she also has a bonus project demonstrating the use of these featured stamps for cards, too.
On this blue beauty she’s combined two stamps, 30-406 All Great Things and 40-508 Gladsome.
Our Creative Die, 51-209 Edger, adds extra detail and even more elegance to Penny’s lovely card design. The diagonal positioning on her card is so eye-catching.
