WCMD Celebration Day 4: Watercolor Masterpieces

October 4, 2019

Did you know that World Card Making Day is coming up on October 5th? Well, why limit the fun to just one week? We are celebrating, along with the fab folks at Scrapbook.com, from October 1st through the 7th with tutorials, videos, and top tips here on our blog. Oh, and did we mention GIVEAWAYS??? Don’t miss your chance to win Penny Black stamps and dies at the end of this post!

Today Mimi joins us with not one, but two, watercolor masterpieces!

Mimi’s first card features our cling stamp, 40-702 Homespun.

Top tips from Mimi: Splatter Canson hot-pressed 140 lb. watercolor paper with frisket and allow to dry. Using a stamp positioning tool, stamp wreath image with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Peeled Paint Distress Ink, and a Tombow Marker #969. With a paintbrush and a little bit of water, spread the stamped color gently. Paint background with diluted Peeled Paint Distress ink. Allow to dry. Remove frisket by gently rubbing it off of the panel. Stamp sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

30-606 Xmas Costume

Next up is the feathered friend from our cling stamp, 40-704 Ruby Trill.

Top tips from Mimi: Splatter Canson hot-pressed 140 lb. watercolor paper with frisket and allow to dry. Stamp image in a stamp positioning tool using Versafine Onyx Black Ink for the bird, Peeled Paint Distress Ink for the leaves, and Fired Brick Distress Ink for the berries. With a paintbrush and a little bit of water, spread the stamped color gently. Darken color and add additional shading by pressing Distress Ink pads onto a nonporous surface (used as palette) and painting it on with a paintbrush. Allow to dry. With very diluted Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink, paint the sky/background. With the fine point of Tombow marker #969, add very slight detail to the leaves. Remove frisket by gently rubbing it off of the panel. Stamp sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I was especially happy to see Mimi in todays posting. I cannot get a chance to email since I am not on facebook and her work is extraordinary. You can always count on her doing a work of art on whatever stamp she is given. This is one reason I can’t resist the stamps…when you see the beautiful work she does.
