Eat Cake and Be Merry

February 14, 2011
by

Welcome! We have such a fun week planned at the Penny Black Blog. Kathy Racoosin is here with a collection of cards that feature vellum in creative ways. She’ll be featuring techniques such as dry embossing on vellum, water coloring on vellum, reverse embossing, and embossing on parchment paper . I think you’ll love what she’s done! Here’s her first card of the week;

Kathy used StazOn Black Ink to stamp onto the vellum piece and embossed the underside of the vellum by stamping the Penny Black design with Versamark then tracing over the lines of the design with a stylus. Just a few small dots of glue hold the vellum strip in place on the card front.

SUPPLIES: Stamps – Delicate Pattern Background #40-047, Pinnacle #4168K (cake & bird), Trims #30-068, Letter Background #1999L, Eat Cake #30-066 (sentiment). Paper: Vellum, Mix & Match papers (colors taken from “Sticks & Stones” & “Coral Reef” ). Other: Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, StazOn Ink, Copic markers, Tombow markers, white gel pen, distress ink, Versamark, clear embossing powder, embossing tool and paper piercer.

    Kathy, I love your lessons this week! Monday’s and Tuesday’s cards are gorgeous! I have never used vellum so I learned a lot – I wondered what I could do with my vellum and now you have taught us. And brilliant idea using parchment paper which so many of us have in the kitchen – and I like the effect. Thank you once again for sharing your creativity and talents with us!
