It’s a Party!

March 7, 2011

Welcome back to the Penny Black Blog! It’s going to be a fun week as we showcase our new Mix & Match cardstock as well as our brand new collection of Spring stamps. Be sure to keep reading to view the details of this week’s card challenge. My daughter, Roxy, is celebrating a birthday this month. Her favorite colors are purple, teal, and orange. A bit of a challenging color combination but it was fun to work with.

First up – the invitation. I printed the invitations from my computer, leaving enough room to stamp the image. I stamped the image (from our new transparent set, “Hello Friend“) in black and colored with Copic Markers. I added some extra background sparkles with tiny stamps from “Crystalline”;

I needed a few gift tags for her presents so I stamped an image from our new “Paint the Town” transparent set onto a tag die cut and colored;

Of course Roxy’s birthday card had to coordinate! I stamped another image from “Paint the Town” along with a greeting from the same set of stamps.

A birthday party just wouldn’t be as festive without party favors… I purchased little treat boxes at my local craft store and filled them with handmade barrettes. I stamped our new wood-mounted “Sealed with a Kiss” Mimi stamp, colored, trimmed, and mounted them to the treat boxes.

Roxy loves to doodle so I knew an altered notebook was the perfect little gift. I stamped another Mimi stamp — “About Town“, colored the image in my birthday color theme, trimmed and mounted her to a panel with clouds and butterflies.

Penny Black’s Mix & Match cardstock made these projects so easy! The colors are rich and vibrant. The opposite side of the cardstock is white – just perfect for stamping and coloring. I used various colors from our new Mix & Match Trios.

  This leads us to this week’s CARD CHALLENGE! Create a card based on a TEAL, ORANGE, and PURPLE color scheme (feel free to add neutral colors to the mix) and load it into our Gallery with the tag “colortrioby Sunday night at Midnight, PST, for a chance to win your choice of three Penny Black stamps or stamp sets! The card challenge winner will be announced in Tuesday’s post. Good luck!
