A Sparkly Easter

March 14, 2011
by

Welcome back to the Penny Black Blog! This week we’ll be featuring Easter Cards from each of our Designers. You’ll notice something in common with the cards you see this week — they all contain glittery, shimmery goodness! Here’s my Easter Card using one of our new Slapstick Stamps, “Pansy Bunny“;

I stamped the image onto the white side of Penny Black’s Mix & Match cardstock and colored it with Copic Markers. I added glitter with a fine-tipped glue pen to certain areas for some sparkle.  When I was adding glitter, I added one color at a time, allowed it to dry, then added the next color. The glitter catches the light and brings the image to life!

To create the background, I stamped just the top portion of the pot’s flowers over and over again in moss green, then filled-in the flowers with a muted pink marker. I used the same technique to add glitter, using a glue pen.

READER CARD CHALLENGE
You can probably guess what this week’s challenge entails — Glitter! Create a new Penny Black stamped card using glitter and enter it into our Gallery by Midnight, PST on Sunday night.  Be sure to tag your card with “sparkle“.  A winner will be chosen to receive their choice of three Penny Black stamps or stamp sets! As you may know – all challenges are posted on Mondays, and all winners on Tuesdays. Good luck! We can’t wait to see what YOU can do with glitter!

    Adorable card, Jenyfur! I like your idea of stamping just the flower part on the card base – it really looks great.

    I love the way the background is made & that it goes off the page. I’d never thought of adding glitter that way & it’s a brilliant way to use my vast stash of loose glitter rather than reaching for the Stickles all the time.
