Love these coasters and will be making some to use as gifts. My question is: do you need to seal them with something?

    • April 2, 2012 8:37 pm

Thanks so much! They do not need to be sealed if you are using Stayz On and alcohol- based markers. I prefer them unsealed, that way if you have a drink on them that is “sweating” they will absorb the moisture. Happy stamping!

Love these tiles. How can I print a copy of the supply list?

    • April 2, 2012 8:38 pm

Thanks for watching! The supply list is at the end of the video. If you need more time to view it or take notes, you can pause the video when it is displayed. Thanks again for your sweet comment! 🙂

These are beautiful. I also wondered if they needed to be sealed.

    • April 2, 2012 8:39 pm

Nope, no sealing necessary. Here’s the info from the previous question in regards to this matter:
They do not need to be sealed if you are using Stayz On and alcohol- based markers. I prefer them unsealed, that way if you have a drink on them that is “sweating” they will absorb the moisture.

Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words! 🙂

OH, Jill! You do such beautiful work! This is a great idea for gifts and another way to “justify” all those stamps we own! I love your PB&J feature. You are a gifted artist and teacher!

Can the distress be achieved with the Tim Holtz Distress Inks instead of the Copic markers? I don’t have many markers and would like to know if something else can be used for coloring like the Marvy Le Plume II.
I love the project, thanks for the tutorial and look forward to hearing back from you

Hi Carla– I have not tried this technique with Distress Inks or Marvy La Plume markers because they are not permanent when wet. My only advice would be that if you try those, you would definitely want to seal the coaster prior to using it. If you give it a try, be sure to let me know how it works! Happy Stamping!! 🙂

Just gorgeous project of yours as always! I have the same question as Carla above. Can I use Marvy Le Plume markers to color flowers and then use TH distress inks for edge distressing? I realize I would have to seal in that case even though I will be using Stazon for the stamped image itself. Looking forward to your feedback, thanks again for the inspiration!

These are wonderful Jill – I actually have some tiles here at home and am going to try this super technique! Thanks so much for your inspiration and willingness to share your talent!

I noticed you used Faber Castell for the background stamping – is there another marker or product you could use instead, as I do not have any Faber Castell. What a great idea for gifts!! I love that we can individualize them to suit the person you are giving them to. Thanks,Betty

    • April 6, 2012 1:12 pm

Hi Betty- thanks so much for watching! I used the Faber-Castell Stamper’s Big Brush markers for the stamping because they are india ink. If you were using a different medium, you would want to be sure that it is permanent and waterproof so you could use the coasters without smearing your design.
