Baby Boy

When I first got my hands on this new Penny Black slapstick stamp set, I knew I could do fun things with it and it would become a Design Team favorite. “Cute as a Button” is perfect for tags — I decided to create a tag that I could mount to a card.

I found a jar of ‘sand’ embossing powder at the bottom of my stash. I stamped the button background image onto Penny Black Mix & Match Cardstock and heat embossed. I trimmed the image, mounted it and placed a bow at the top. I stamped the greeting onto the botton of a card panel and matted that piece as well.

The little pup actually belongs to Miss Mimi – it’s from our new “Mimi in Paris” transparent set of stamps. I colored him with markers and trimmed the image carefully. TIP: When wet embossing, once your powder has melted, also run your heat gun under your cardstock for a few seconds…this will help the paper flatten out.

Are you ready for today’s cardstock giveaway?! Here’s the trio I used for my card, “Fern Green”. The olive tones are perfect for masculine, or in this case, baby boy cards.

Leave a comment on this post for a chance to win this pack of Mix & Match Cardstock along with a few more. Be sure to check out the details of this week’s Penny Black Card Challenge – it’s all about embossing. Our challenges are posted every Monday. Enter your card into our Gallery for a chance to win 3 Penny Black stamps or stamp sets! Happy Stamping!

I adore this card!! This looks like my mini schnauzer/Westie mix Jake that we rescued from the local Animal Friends which is a no kill shelter. Your card is as lovable as my Jake!

Love the fact that you’ve used red for a boy – but it’s utterly masculine for it’s a deep red & so toned with the olive that you don’t really think about it; unless you’re looking (like me). This is a lovely & unusual baby boy card.

gorgeous card – and i love background stamps. Hence i love the new stamp releases from Penny Black. I do love this button background, because the design is continuous. You can cover big cardstocks as well and are not restricted to the size of the stamp.
