Want to create this beautiful project, too? Here’s the how-to…

1) Repurpose an old tin (for example, this one was found in a bargain bin at a garden center) and paint over with gesso mixed with a little tan acrylic paint.

cathy2

2) Stamp 40-282 Twirls onto  May Arts Ivory 5/8″ Faux Canvas/ Lightweight Ribbon 444-58-09 using Memento Luxe Olive Grove and Pear Tart inks, iron ribbon to set.

cathy3

3) Using a paint brush, lightly paint over tin with Memento Luxe Pistachio ink and then splatter Shimmer Spritz Copper over the top and heat set.

cathy4

4) Apply stamped faux canvas ribbon to side of tin with adhesive.

cathy5

5) Stamp 30-213 Bouquets twice onto white card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then color the flowers using Chameleon Sky Blue and Olive pens. Color the leaves with Copic markers G21, YG63 and YG67. Cut out, emboss with an embossing tool and layer to add dimension.

cathy6

6) Cut a butterfly from metal using the Creative Die 51-007 Tagged and brush over with Enamel Medium and then sprinkle with Iced Enamels Relique Turquoise and heat set, add gems to the center of the butterfly. Cut three pieces of May Arts 5/8″ Wired String w/mini Raffia Bows 472-58-16 and form into loops.

cathy7

7) Stamp sentiment from 30-162 Eloquence 30-162 Eloquence Luxe Tuxedo Black ink and heat set, add flowers ribbons and butterfly to lid of tin with hot glue gun.

cathy8

8) Seal the flowers and leaves with Vintage Glaz on to finish.

This is the best way to use ribbon I think! Stamping on ribbon sometimes isn’t easy but as here the results can be so beautiful…

  53. March 13, 2014 3:04 pm

The little touches Copper on the tine add such interest & I love the way your stamped ribbons are used both on the top & around the edge. The butterfly is very striking & I do like the way you stuck to using the same colour as the flowers. There’s so much tactile interest in this whole project making it quite an unusual altered item.
